Emerge  2010

"What a success.
What talent we have in the Forest."

On Sunday 25th April, at the Forest Theatre 60 young people from youth groups across the Forest came together to stage Emerge. This showcase event was put on by the Forest Youth Forum, so young people had the opportunity to perform in public. Forum members, applied to the Youth Opportunity Fund to cover the cost of putting the show on, they also compared the show and sold refreshments, sold programmes and organised a collect for Forest Pulse, which raised £200.

The acts who performed included Beautiful Disaster who play numbers by Coldplay, Bill Withers and the Killers. The VorteX Crew followed, and performed a street dance piece called ‘The Unknown’. Next up was Engage Youth Circus, with  their aerial hoop, acrobalance, and diabolo.

Laura  Price from Newent then performed Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O’Conner.  Next came Inspiration from Newent Youth Centre with  their dance routine. To complete the first half a new trio called sax Appeal performed Dave Brubeck’s Take Five and the Pink Panther Theme.

The second half start with Forest Pulse’s Inclusive dance group, who performed a piece created by them at their weekly sessions. Peas in a Pod, a three piece group from Newent, then performed Magic by Colbie Caillat. Found in the Forest youth theatre then performed a newly created drama piece. Next on the stage was the Candi Dance Troupe, and the evening was round off by Ellie Higgs sing two numbers.

Who needs Britain's got talent when we have such talented young people here in the Forest.
