“It’s not about the Price Tag!”
The
Forest of Dean Youth Forum held the much loved “Trash Fashion” event on
Sunday 20th November at Lakers School- and the theme for 2011 was
“Pop Icons”. Over 40 young people were involved from across the Forest of
Dean.
The
audience enjoyed four stunning catwalk presentations from Newent Community
School, Heywood School, CANDI Cinderford and Gloucestershire Youth Support
Service. The standard was extremely high from all teams, and featured wild
and creative use of recycled materials, ranging from ruffles made from
scented plastic bags, to frilly tutus made of folded newspaper and trainers
made from cola cans. Winning prizes of tickets to The Clothes Show Live in
Birmingham were awarded to CANDI, and second prize- tickets to Bristol
Fashion Week, were awarded to Gloucestershire Youth Support Service.
The show
was packed full of entertainment from Found in the Forest Youth Theatre,
CANDI Dance and Singing sensation- Fran Brown.
Trash
Fashion was organised by the young people from the Forest of Dean Youth
Forum and was supported with funding from the New Grove Trust. Donations
were collected for Children in Need.
Fashion
can indeed be free- and as the winning team demonstrated to us all- It’s not
about the Price Tag!
